This song can be summed up as “Michael Schulte, please get therapy.”
I’d write more about it but I find the “tribute to my dead dad” angle to be just offensive, and the musicality of it to be middling at best. Dude, your Dad didn’t ‘let’ you walk alone, like he had a choice in the matter. He DIED. Not like he had much choice in the matter.
I’m sure we’re going to hear a lot of commentators talk about how Schulte is going to be a dad soon himself and isn’t it great and circle of life blah blah blah but if you really listen to the lyrics, there’s a lot of unprocessed anger here!
And one more point – Michael Schulte has been called the Ed Sheeran of Germany. That moniker alone should give you a sense as to whether or not this song is for you (and I hope it’s not).
NUL POINTS.
TWITTER JOKES YOU SHOULDN’T BOTHER MAKING BECAUSE THEY’VE ALREADY BEEN DONE BETTER BY THE EUROFANDOM: German Ed Sheeran
SHOULD YOU TAKE A PEE BREAK DURING HIS PERFORMANCE: Yes. And if you don’t need to pee, switch the sound off and watch Germany’s best Eurovision entry ever here.
